2009
My first shows of 2009 were in Prince Albert. There I was handling “Ruby” the Bernese Mountain Dog, and “Eddie” and “Petunia” the Standard Schnauzers. This was a new experience for me and I was able to put group placements on both of these breeds.
In May, I was at Hub City show in Saskatoon and was Best Overall Jr. Handler showing a Golden Retriever named “GiGi.”
June was busy with 4-H. So I was showing cattle not dogs! My Angus steer ” Ang Grande’ ” was the Grand Champion Fed Steer!! I was so happy with this win…..it’s not very often you are able to capture this win and for me to do it as a Junior 4-H member was amazing!! I went on to the Regional show with him and was second in my showmanship class.
Best overall Jr. Handler at the Swift Current shows.
I took a weekend off from dog shows and attended my first Saskatchewan Barrel Racing Association Finals in Moose Jaw. I had a great time, met some new friends and had some good runs on my horse, “Mojo”. In the end, I finished 5th in the 3D. I was very happy with how I finished for my first time there.
At the Shamrock Kennel Club shows in Yorkton, I worked alongside my mentor Lori-Ann Fischer. I was fortunate enough to handle some great dogs that weekend. I finished the championship on a golden puppy, “Sky,” Ch Verdoro’s New Horizons and also took Best Puppy in Group with her.
On Saturday was the Provincial Jr. Handling finals and I had a wonderful time. I was again this year awarded Reserve Best Overall Jr. Handler. Sorry no photo as the photographer wouldn’t stay until the finals were over to do photos for the Juniors. Sunday was the best day yet in my years of showing. I was handling “Hemay,” CH Snowghosts Heamy Siku, a Samoyed. This was my first time showing a Samoyed, and thanks to judge Geraldine Taylor, I was able to put my first BIS on a dog!!!! WOW what a thrill!!!!
Then, to be the icing on the cake, my mentor Lori-Ann also took Reserve BIS on my favorite boy, “Jett,” CH Ferndel Always In Fashion
At the Saskatoon shows, I won my Jr’s class showing Piper the golden retriever, who I also put group placements on at this show too.
